Assigning Filters - Customize your experience

To improve the assigning performance for assignors, specific filters can be ignored when assigning officials.

Overview

The assigning filters are broken into six main groupings.  Each item contains one or more subfilters that are run when displaying the list of officials to assign.  Upon clicking 'Go' for a specific official, all of the filters will be checked to notify the assigner of any issues that weren't initially displayed.

  • Blocked dates
Checks if the official has blocked the date or time of the game
  • Blocked teams, partners, sites, and postal codes
Checks if the official has blocked  a team, partner, site, or postal or is blocked by a team contact.
  • Distances
Checks the official's travel limits, the team distance, and the level distance.
  • Days per game, home team, away team, and partners
Checks the number of days before or after that the official worked a prior game, for the home team, away team, or with the same partner.
  • Max games per team /per year
Checks the total number of games the official has worked for any team
  • Games per day, week, and total
Checks the number of games the official has worked per day, week, or overall, including the number of games per position.

Examples

Jane Thompson, the assigner for a large softball organization, needs officials to travel across the state to fill games.  To make assigning faster and see the officials who meet her most important needs, she decides to turn off the distances filter.

John, the assigner of a large city, allows officials to work as many games as they can.  How often they see a particular team is not important to him.  So he turns off Days per game, home team, away team, and partners as well as Games per day, week, and total.

Performance Improvements

By only checking the filters that matter to you, your assigning experience will run faster because the system does not have to check as many items.  Based on our testing with groups of various sizes, we found the average performance improvements as follows*:

Filter Average Percent of Time
Blocked Dates 19%
Blocked teams, partners, sites, and postal codes 6%
Distances 17%
Days per game, home team, away team, partners 9%
Max games per team /per year 3%
Games per day, week, and total 29%

The percentages don't add up to 100 due to overhead with every assignment.

* Due to the differences in each account, some accounts will see greater improvements in certain areas than others.  For large accounts (10,000+ games), the games per day, week, and total had the largest impact.
