Online Testing for Officials

If you are required to take a test to be eligible for future games and you were told to take it in ArbiterSports, here is a guide on where to find the test, how to answer questions, and other helpful functions.

Where to Find the Test

If you are part of an Association that requires you to take a test, you will most likely have a Central Hub in your list of "Organizations" with your State or your Association.

  1. Go to www.ArbiterSports.com and Sign in.
  2. Immediately, you will see all of the Organizations that you are part of. Find the Correct Name and Select on the right side of the name Central Hub.
  3. Locate the Testing tab that is on the top of the screen. (Note: The picture below shows how most of the Central Hubs look like, along with the location of the Testing tab.)

         4.  Locate the Test that you are required to take and click on Take Test on the right side of the test.

If you can't locate any Central Hubs or don't have permission to take the test, there are a few reasons that determine the issue:
  • The Association doesn't have a Central Hub, but they go by the States Central Hub
  • The State hasn't added you to their group
  • If the State says that they have added you and you still can't see it, there is a chance that a different email is on their list than the one you use to log in
  • The test has not been opened
  • You haven't logged in when it says that the test is for registered group members only.
  • If you are logged in and you still get the error message above, then the permission to take the test has not been updated on their end.

ANSWERING QUESTIONS:

To answer a question, click on the circle next to the answer you believe is correct. Your answer is saved if you go to another question or select Save and Exit, though you can later change your answer. After answering a question, select Back (previous question) or Next (next question), or you can navigate to any question by using the vertical navigation bar on the left side of the screen.

The vertical navigation bar (see test window below) on the left side of the screen indicates which questions have been answered. A white circle indicates a question has not been answered, a blue circle indicates a question has been answered, and a yellow circle indicates a question is currently being viewed. Note that you can click on any question in the left panel to navigate directly to that question.

TO SAVE A TEST AND FINISH IT LATER:

  • Exit the testing window, and your answers will be saved.
  • Choose the Save and Exit option provided in the lower right corner of every question.

To finish a test, return to the Testing dashboard and select Continue.

TO SUBMIT YOUR TEST:

Finish answering all questions and then:

  • If your last question answered was the last question on the test:  Click Next and you will be taken to the Summary screen (see below) where the option to Submit Test is provided. Simply click Submit Test.
  • If your last question answered was any question other than the last one:  Scroll down the left-side navigation bar and select  Summary. This screen confirms that you have answered all questions and provides the option to Submit Test. To submit the test, simply click on Submit Test.

Submit means you intend to turn in a finalized exam. Please make sure all questions are answered as you wish. If you have not answered all questions, you will be prompted to re-enter the test and finish or Save and Exit.

TEST RESULTS:

Upon successful submission of your test, you will receive a confirmation screen that indicates the vital statistics regarding your completed test. You should print this screen as proof of having taken the test. You should also receive a confirmation email containing the same information as the confirmation screen. Save one or both for your records. If your governing body allows you to take the test more than once, and you have test attempts remaining, simply return to the TESTING Tab on the Central Hub and repeat the process indicated in these instructions.

REVIEWING YOUR TEST:

If the Association or the State lets you view you results (To find out if they do, get in contact with the Association about being able to review the test):

  • Go into the TESTING tab and find your score below. If the option to Review Your Answers is available, click on it to see your results.

If you are a member of an organization that does their testing through ArbiterSports, you will want to contact them to get the URL of their central hub, the page where testing is hosted.

Jonathan - We don't control the membership status of individual officials. You will need to contact US Lacrosse to ensure you are registered.

Anita - In order to access the hubs for associations, you will need to register with the organization first.

I took the NCAA basketball rules test twice. We are only authorized 2 chances to pass the test. I failed the first try. I took the test again intending to save and exit, not submit until I go to my officials association meeting next week to get a better understanding on all the rule changes for this upcoming season. I accidentally submitted exam and received a failing score. Is there anything I can do? Thanks

Dwayne - You will need to contact the NCAA Baseball leadership directly. We provide the tools, but they manage all of the eligibility requirements.

    Hi Nathan,
Did I misread the close date? It's still 10/30 but the test is not available and I am not able to click submit on my second attempt.

Aaron - Which test are you trying to take? Once a test has closed, it will appear under the closed section with the close date listed.
